MARK HILLS
Retired Director

With over 40 years experience, Mark has been working in the Prosthetic and Orthotic industry, travelling the world mastering skills in high-end prosthetic components such as the microprocessor and Myoelectrics. 

Mark brings to TLCU expertise in both clinical practice and business management as owner of the business, and his international reputation puts him in high demand for training and assisting prosthetists in other countries with their manufacturing and clinical techniques.

Mark remains an owner of the business but has since retired from the TLCU clinic full-time. Mark is still involved with the operations of the business and works in a consultant capacity sharing with the team his extensive knowledge and experience within the prosthetics industry.

MICHELLE NEWCOMBE-PLATT ANZIIF (Assoc) CIP
CEO

Michelle Newcombe-Platt joined TLCU in 2022 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer of TLCU in January 2025, following her tenure as General Manager. As CEO, Michelle is committed to driving efficient and effective practice operations across TLCU, supporting staff development and continually enhancing the client experience. Michelle inspires her team by fostering a culture of collaboration, and witnessing the life-changing impact of TLCU’s work on individuals and their families.

Alongside her CEO role with TLCU, Michelle was a founding Director and Shareholder of Modern Orthotic Designs and served as Company Secretary - further reflecting her long-term commitment to the Prosthetics and Orthotics (P&O) industry’s growth and success. In September 2025, she formally resigned from MOD after successfully growing the business, which was later sold to a sole practitioner.

Before entering the healthcare sector, Michelle built a 20-year career in leadership across the legal and insurance industries, specialising in operations, customer service, revenue growth and vendor management. Her transition into prosthetics and orthotics highlights both her adaptability and her dedication to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Michelle is proud to lead an organisation that champions innovation, collaboration, and excellence - ensuring TLCU remains a trusted leader in the Prosthetics and Orthotics community, delivering transformative care to those who need it most.

JON CHALCRAFT
Technical Lead

Jon worked in the family’s prosthetic manufacturing business in WA and has a personal connection to providing and manufacturing for our clinicians the best prosthetic products that will level the playing field for people with limb differences or limb loss.

Jon shares responsibility for all aspects of the manufacturing and finishing of prosthetic and orthotic devices at TLCU. 

Jon has worked as a Prosthetic Technician for over 23 years. He has seen prosthetic limbs evolve from wooden legs with basic rubber feet to today’s prosthetic devices which include carbon fibre feet, microprocessor knee joints and arms. Jon has also seen the introduction of a wide variety of liners, clutch locks, suspension systems and many other innovations.

Jon enjoys seeing these new technologies being implemented and assisting the TLCU Clinicians and other Technicians in bringing all these new products into practice and seeing the improvements they make to our client lives.

BRADEN SCULLY BHS MCPO, cOP-AOPA
Prosthetist

After graduating from La Trobe University in 2013, Braden worked in Melbourne briefly before moving to Scandinavia where he worked as a Prosthetic Technician in the south of Norway for two years before joining the TLCU team in 2017.

Braden loves working within the TLCU team and finds the field both stimulating and rewarding, and he enjoys working with a large variety of clients and collaborating with them to achieve their personal goals.

In 2021, Braden took on a leadership role within the clinical team with a focus on ensuring TLCU delivers personalised and high-quality patient care. 

Braden's special interest areas within the prosthetic field are above knee socket design, paediatric prosthetics and mental health. 

JESSICA GRIFFITHS BHS MCPO, cOP-AOPA
Prosthetist

Jess graduated from La Trobe University in 2014 with a Masters degree in Clinical Prosthetics and Orthotics. Jess gained valuable experience in acute and subacute orthotic/prosthetic management while working at Launceston General Hospital before joining the TLCU team in 2018.

Jess is passionate about ensuring all people living with a disability receive the care that best allows them to meet their individual goals and increase their independence.  Her special areas of interest are emerging technologies and components, improving clinical outcomes for remote clients and evidence-based solutions.   

Jess is also certified member of the Australian Orthotic Prosthetic Association (AOPA)

MARYAM MOKHTARI  BP&O, MISPO
Prosthetist

Maryam is a skilled prosthetist and orthotist with a bachelor’s degree and over 15 years of clinical experience in Australia and internationally, including Iran, India and Afghanistan. Her work with the International Committee of the Red Cross and extensive travel have deepened her understanding of the different cultural needs of people and enhanced her ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.

 Specialising in complex below-knee and Syme's prosthetics, Maryam is passionate about innovative technology and enjoys tailoring solutions that align with her client’s life goals.

AGNES LI PhD, cOP-AOPA
Prosthetist

Agnes is a seasoned Prosthetist and Orthotist with a Doctoral degree from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her extensive clinical experience spans both public and private healthcare systems in Hong Kong and Australia, equipping her with a broad and nuanced understanding of patient care across diverse settings.

Since relocating to Australia in 2017, Agnes has demonstrated a deep commitment to serving individuals from multicultural backgrounds, tailoring her approach to meet each client’s unique needs. She is driven by a passion for holistic care and empowering her clients to achieve their personal goals and regain mobility.

Agnes’s clinical interests lie in advanced prosthetic technologies and the management of complex lower limb prosthetics, where she continues to innovate and advocate for best-practice solutions.

Prosthetist

KRISHNA KARMAN
Purchasing & Accounts Administrator

Krishna manages both the purchasing and accounts side of the business, providing support to the CEO with reporting and budgets.

Krishna ensures the deliveries and orders are processed in a timely manner, ensures components/consumables, back-orders and Trials/Loaners are followed up and documented accurately.

Krishna manages all supplier invoices and payments, processing, reconciliation, follow up in this regard and will always be happy to support our clients or TLCU team with their queries.

Krishna has a desire to learn and share her knowledge with the TLCU team. She is often seen covering or assisting the administration team or putting her hand up to be involved in a new project. Krishna is valued professional and a great support to everyone in the building, whether that is for our clients or our staff.

TINA SAMUEL
Administration Specialist (NDIS)

Tina’s main role at TLCU is to build client relationships and to support our professionals in delivering exceptional services.

Tina provides an efficient and effective level of support to our clients with their NDIS Plans and enquiries. She ensures the smooth running of daily activities for clients and staff at TLCU.

Tina’s role is a varied administration role, which mainly concentrates on our NDIS clients. She does this by creating Service Bookings on the NDIS portal, sends AT & quotes for approval and can assist with linking our clients with a Plan Manager or even provide updates of the progress of their job, approval or funds.

Tina is able to assist all our clients, whatever the query. If she does not know the answer, she will find it!

NATALIE COOPER
Receptionist / Administration Assistant

Natalie receives and welcomes clients & visitors by phone and in person, providing a friendly face on your arrival and effective support, ensuring the smooth running of daily activities for clients and staff at TLCU.

Natalie is your go-to person for our WALSA, private and insurance clients. She will be pleased to provide the support you are looking for to get your quote approved, organise and order consumables where required, or make an appointment for you to see one of our Clinicians.

Natalie is both empathetic and respectful of others and is a great support to our clients and staff.

DANIELLE GENOVESI
Orders Administrator

Danielle joined the team in 2024 and works across both TLCU and MOD, providing exceptional support to our Clinical and Administration teams.

 Dani plays a vital role in managing our operations division managing incoming & outgoing stock including all our trial components from the eastern states, the USA and Europe.

 If you’re in need of consumables - socks, lotions, or sleeves, Dani is your go-to person!  She can help you review your plan and ensure you make the most of your funding.

 Dani also provides leave relief for our Administration Staff, bringing her enthusiasm, bubbly personality and can-do attitude to every task she undertakes.

TESSA VAN RAALTE
Technician

Tessa has completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts, specialising in Props and Scenery Construction at WAAPA. She has also gained qualifications in Silicone Prosthetics and Foam Latex Prosthetics. With an an eye for detail, her skills stem from experience with mould making, sculpting, silicone work, painting, and airbrushing.

Tessa has worked for 4 years in the field of medical simulation, manufacturing medical training aids for the Australian Defence Force and the wider medical community. She has designed and manufactured a range of training devices for bleeding control and wound treatment. She brings strengths to the team including organisation and technical knowledge, with a strong passion for quality.

MUKESH KARMAN
Technician

As an experienced Technician at TLCU, Mukesh provides support to our Prosthetists and Orthotists in the manufacture and repair of prostheses and orthoses for clients of TLCU.

Mukesh is a valued member of staff who is kind and a joy to work with. His attention to detail and genuine interest in the ideal outcome for our client’s manufacturing is so important, which in return results in obtaining the best results for our clients.
